OUR STORY

At Ekoligens, in all we do, we believe in innovation; we believe it's our responsibility to leave the planet in better shape than it is today.

The way we innovate is by taking everything we know, re-imagining how amazing a product would be if it were made from a truly natural, regenerative material, and daring to try.

We just happen to make great replacements for plastic.

OUR MISSION

Replacing plastic products in the retail sector

Our mission is to help companies transition towards regenerative and sustainable packaging materials. We refuse to accept that companies have to choose between sustainability and performance. Instead, we work tirelessly to offer both.

Naturally, we wanted to have a big impact from the start and plastic hangers happen to be one of fashion's most challenging plastic waste streams. So, this is where we started.

EKOLIGENS IS FOUNDED

Ekoligens was founded by Jonas Skoglund and Patrik Enbacka in the early 2010s. In collaboration with the Swedish forest and pulp industry, they set out to develop a high quality replacement to plastic using a sustainable material close to home: the Scandinavian forest.

2014

A 2D HANGER PROTOTYPE IS DEVELOPED

A flat cellulose-based hanger was developed in collaboration with Lindex and KappAhl. Ekoligens had a proof of concept: a sustainable cellulose-based replacement to the traditional plastic hanger.
